OBJECTIFIED

The video Objectified was rather interesting because it explains how products can relate to the designer or the user as it has a meaning or is deeply connected to the person owning or using the product due to "emotional energy". This is because the products around us are very personal, we have chose them ourselves, and we are expressed with the objects we own. With every product, it was also designed for a particular purpose meaning each part of the product has went through a series of thought and planning before it was produced. However we do not think or acknowledge these things like in the quote "Every object, intentional or not, speaks to who put it there".

Designers create products when they've discovered the need for it. So in order to "improve the way people do things, without having them really think about it" is really the way to go. This quote was really inspiration coz it would really help people adapt and accept the new product much quicker, not to mention would people have a lot of time to learn and remember the new instructions for a particular product?

This afternoon I saw a vegetable cutter which could dice with just a press of the lid. This made me relate back to the quote "We designers have been working to stimulate people's souls and minds". Honestly, there's already many products out there which is 80% similar, but why do designers keep redesigning the product? This is because designers want to stimulate users' minds, enhance their experience with the product so that they would enjoy using it.

Although I have already been told about sustainability many times. But a reminder is never too much about this problem. It is certainly a serious issue that should be taken seriously.
